My Disney Diet Diary

Dear Diary,

Today was my first day of exercise since my surgery in October. I chose to do Zumba at home, and it felt so good to dance! I remembered why I used to go to Zumba – it was the thrill of dance. Of course, after about 20 minutes I was ready to crash, but I am looking forward to seeing how far I can push my fitness tomorrow. My low-calorie diet seems to be working well so far. I am eating small meals every 3-4 hours. My medicine is immensely helpful at making me feel full. I did not like how sluggish I felt the first few days of the medicine, but I melted off 5 pounds that first week so it’s worth it so far.

Hello everyone – it’s me, Dr. Brandy with some more suggestions about a healthier lifestyle. In particular, I am SELF motivated with taking back my life from the stressors of the post covid world. Like many of my patients, friends, and family members, the pandemic was not kind to me. As anxieties regarding caring for my patients, opening a new clinic, and just living piled up on me, I was distracted by stress eating and post-surgical lethargy from a surgical procedure I had at the end of 2020. And now I am ready to grab back the control of my life by dedicating this journey to better health. AND I’m going to Walt Disney World for the first time since 2019 to see my Disney Moms Panel friends (now known as planDisney) in September. I’m so excited to see them, but I must have lost my mind when I invited my daughter to join me because this kid ran circles around me the last time I took her to Disney! When I took my daughter, we did 4 Disney Parks in 4 Days and I walked nearly 22,000 steps/minimum per day.

So, my goals are:

I want to get in shape in time for my September Disney Trip.

I want to be able to walk 10,000 steps per day.

I want to lose 20 pounds so that my clothes fit better.

I want to be as pain free as possible during my trip.

I plan to attain my goals by eating better and being mindful about my stress levels, food intake, and rest time. I will start a good exercise regimen with my daughter as my work out buddy. Finally, I am going to pull out all my physical therapy exercises and do them regularly to keep my back pain, vision changes, and headaches as controlled as possible. You may not be planning a Disney trip this year, but I would like for all of you my patients/friends/family members to look deep inside and find some motivation towards a better and healthier life. What could you be doing differently? What are your goals? I invite you to follow my journey and actively participate as much as you can.

Until next time –

Dr. Brandy 😊
