Hello everyone –
At long last, I have taken some time to reflect on my awesomely fabulous trip to Walt Disney World towards the end of 2021. I worked hard to lose weight, get in better shape, and along with my daughter Sarah, I had an amazing journey. Just remembering the joy of that trip makes me want to set new health goals for myself. It’s always nice to reward hard work.
At DFW Airport ready for our adventure!
Sarah and I were able to visit all 4 Disney Parks, we walked 5-10 miles a day, and enjoyed the thrill of the rides and attractions. We even tackled Disney Springs for a massive shopping trip. And because of all that exercise in the parks, we were able to enjoy our favorite Disney snacks and fine dining every day. AND yes, I saw my dear Disney Class of 2016 Mamas at the PlanDisney Reunion!!

So, my goals before the trip were:
I want to get in shape in time for my Disney Trip.
I want to be able to walk 10,000 steps per day.
I want to lose 20 pounds so that my clothes fit better.
I want to be as pain free as possible during my trip.
And this is how I did:
I want to get in shape in time for my September Disney Trip - DONE
I want to be able to walk 10,000 steps per day – DONE. I walked 25,000 steps per park!
I want to lose 20 pounds so that my clothes fit better – CLOSE. I lost 17 pounds, 4 ½ inches AND my clothes were fierce!
I want to be as pain free as possible during my trip – DONE. I ended up taking my cane for balance due to the high traffic in the parks (and also so no one pushing a stroller would run me down) but I was pain free the entire trip. I also made sure to get a nap every day after lunch to prevent migraines.
Here I am sporting my Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary special mouse ears!
I attained my goals by eating better and being mindful about my stress levels, food intake, and rest time. I had a good exercise regimen with my daughter as my work out buddy. I am so proud of what I accomplished! I know I did this just for the trip, and I’m sad to say that once I got back, I haven’t been as dedicated with my weight because as you know, life goes on.
However, isn’t today a good day to get back on track? There is no shame in gaining weight or dropping some of our exercise and healthy habits. The real shame is when we don’t get back on the horse after we fall off. I’m planning to get back on the saddle. Who’s joining me? Because the best adventures we have are with our friends and family.
Thanks for reading My Disney Diet Diary!
Brandy 😊
